Terrorism is an epidemic that plagues the world. Terrorists use surprise and our own fear in an attempt to achieve their own goals. They use weapons of mass destruction to send the message that they should be feared, but you can defend yourself.

 

Imagine terrorism as a natural disaster. Like an earthquake or a tornado, terrorism requires preparation and knowledge. With proper preparation and staying informed of the current dangers, you can take away the terrorists' advantage of surprise.

 

When you travel, take similar precautions. Many terrorist groups target tourists so take time to learn the risks, and if you ever have any questions, seek help. Many areas are staffed with security personnel trained to handle emergency situations.

 

Remember to inform your children. There's no point in keeping them in the dark. The more your children know, the better they will be able to protect themselves when you're not around.
